Sustainability Manager | $180-$220k + super  

Newly created role to drive Australia’s leading renewables firm to foster responsible business practices in a socially and environmentally way.

Our client is a leading Australian-owned energy business who is driving change to shape a cleaner future for our environment through supporting the transition to renewable energy. With an impressive pipeline of work, the Sustainability Manager will play a pivotal role in driving our client’s ESG strategy, leading socially and environmentally progressive practices.


The Leaders

This role will report directly into the CPO and Head of Sustainability and work closely with the Head of P&C who are both collaborative, down to earth and passionate leaders. You will work as part of a tight-knight People & Culture team who are high-performing and continue to elevate workplace culture and performance.


The Opportunity

This is a newly created role and as the Sustainability Manager, you will own and set the ESG strategy. You’ll play a key role in fostering responsible business practices and enhancing our client’s ESG reputation. You will work closely with stakeholders across the entire business to drive awareness and accountability and create advocacy within the organisation.

There has been some work completed to date with regards to frameworks and policies. However, this is a great opportunity to step into the role and elevate the sophistication of ESG policies, procedures and reporting frameworks.

Further, you will:

  • Proactively identify sustainability issues and working with stakeholders to address matters by provide specialist advice and guidance
  • Work cross-functionally to integrate sustainable practices in all aspects of operations
  • Work with SMEs to lead ESG initiatives across the business, forming working groups to create ambassadors and drive accountability
  • Plan and oversee reporting which will include the preparation of reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Carry out data quality assessments to identify trends and issues, using data to inform your approach
  • Educate and train employees on sustainable practices, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility
  • Own and deliver a communications plan to keep relevant stakeholders informed of progress.

About You

To be considered for this role you will have extensive experience working in sustainability in consulting or a large corporation where you have been responsible for strategy development and implementation. You will have superior stakeholder engagement skills, working to influence outcomes across all aspects of ESG.

Your experience will see you be able to deliver best-practice frameworks, policies and reporting processes that achieve positive ESG outcomes. You will continue to enhance this through your knowledge and continuous development around the ESG landscape, regulations and trends.

Experience working within the energy, resources and infrastructure industries is key.

As the role will see you responsible for reporting, a strong analytical mindset is crucial with the ability to tell a story through the use of data.

Above all, you will be passionate about Sustainability and have a strong desire to foster a socially and environmentally progressive work environment, including workplace practices.


The Process
