Senior Payroll Officer | 8-Week Contract – High likelihood of 12-month extension!

Deliver end-to-end payroll and support HR operations for a purpose-driven Australian NFP!   

  • Initial 8 week opportunity with strong chance of extension to 12 months
  • Preceda experience is a must-have
  • CBD location, hybrid working circa 2 days in the office

The Leaders

You will be joining a tight-knit payroll unit that sits within the HR function. You will work alongside another Payroll Officer and report directly into the Payroll Manager, while the team is collectively overseen by a Payroll & Projects lead.

The business is in the midst of an HRIS implementation which will see some resources move into project roles to see this through. As such, this 8-week opportunity has a high likelihood of being extended to a 12-month fixed term contract.

The Opportunity

A true, end-to-end payroll position, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the efficient & accurate delivery of a fortnightly and monthly pay run for a headcount of ~900;
  • Completing other key payroll related transactions such as super & PAYG payments and leave calculations;
  • Proactively fielding and resolving any payroll queries from employees and other stakeholders, while maintaining a high level of customer service;
  • Completing end of month duties such as payroll & HR reports;
  • Maintaining the integrity of the employe master data, setting up new hires, processing terminations and managing any other changes & variations;
  • Support the Payroll Manager and broader team with any process improvements where needed.

About You

What will see you succeed in this role is a strong technical payroll skillset, with demonstrated experience in both end-to-end processing and in the completion of more complex functions such as payroll tax, super, PAYG and more.

Preceda experience is a non-negotiable for this role. Ideally, you will have worked within a NFP environment and understand salary packaging requirements and processing.

Also crucial is strong stakeholder management skills. You will be comfortable in not only answering and actioning queries, but in guiding stakeholders through payroll issues and helping them to understand them.

Finally, you will be naturally collaborative and work with a sense of urgency, accuracy, and efficiency.

The Process

This will be a quick process due to the short-term nature of the initial contract. Following a meeting with a Levyl consultant, you will have 1 interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition team and the Payroll team. Reference checks and police checks will be done before offer.
