Job description

Join Stuart Alexander (Chupa Chups, Reese’s, and Mentos) on their delectable journey forward as their new People & Culture Manager!

  • Unique and balanced, strategic, and operational HR leadership role!
  • Drive the day to day with your team whilst flexing up to board level!
  • Manage HR projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

The Company

Join an organisation rich in history (140+ years!) that are proud of the tier one brands in which they represent: Chupa Chups, Reese’s and Hersheys (just to name a few!). Stuart Alexander & Co is a leading sales and marketing organisation, and one of Australia’s most successful privately owned companies. They are dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and inclusivity. Their customer centric, commitment to excellence is reflected in everything that they do!

The People & Culture team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Stuart Alexander provide a workplace that not only meets but exceeds the needs of their diverse team. Due to a loved and longstanding team member departing, the coveted role of People & Culture Manager has become available. Joining as the new leader at this point in time, will see you take advantage of a strong foundation, whilst building on the momentum created in what is set to be an exciting few years ahead of growth and sophistication.

The Leaders

The CEO of Stuart Alexander, Nick Nairn, is a charismatic, authentic, and practical leader who has a long standing history leading successful teams and organisations within the FMCG sector (Heineken, PepsiCo, Frucor). He believes in the People & Culture function and is one to enable this Manager to work with independence and clarity. You will also gain the interim support and mentorship of a Group HR Director who has been engaged on a part-time basis to guide the business through exciting future plans. The members making up the rest of the ELT are equally experienced, and this leadership team has a sound gender balance. In summary, you will be encouraged to step into your role with autonomy and bring your personal flavour to the team and organisation – whilst enjoying a good support network that’s in place!

The Opportunity

This role will directly lead two P&C team members; a standalone Payroll & Remuneration Manager and a HR Coordinator. In addition to your people leadership duties, this role will see you focus on performing all operational day to day HR duties to ensure a strong level of organisational performance and engagement.

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Executing on the strategic plan for People & Culture and working on the development and implementation of future strategies. Aligning organisational goals with the people & culture vision will be critical to success;
  • Managing all recruitment and onboarding processes (with administrative support from the coordinator);
  • Facilitating all annual performance and career development conversations including employee relations and exits;
  • Maintaining and developing contemporary policies, procedures, and systems (Employment Hero and JobAdder is in place at present);
  • Managing employee engagement, including the development of events and exercises plus working on the embedding and bringing to life of company values;
  • Management of the People & Culture budget, including the oversight of payroll and remuneration processes;
  • Regular reporting back to committees, boards, the CEO, and other stakeholders; and
  • Continuous improvement and HR project initiatives connected but not limited to people insights, employer branding, learning and development, and organisational design.

About You

We are looking for an experienced People & Culture Manager who has worked in a fast-paced, small to mid-sized dynamic environment! You will thrive in a role that is balanced between the operational and strategic; capable of presenting to the board (and interpreting information from them) and equally enjoy being the front line ‘go to’ for the workforce who see you and your team as the guiding influence for culture, development and support. You’re an enthusiastic, flexible, and dedicated HR Generalist, with experience leading a small team and taking on project work. This opportunity is based in Ultimo with a flexible hybrid working arrangement in place (with office-based anchor days).

Your biggest challenge in this role may be avoiding the sweet treats on your in person office days!

The Process

We anticipate a two to three stage interview process following a meeting with a Levyl consultant. We are seeking a June/July 2024 commencement to enable a handover with the current incumbent who is relocating overseas! A competitive remuneration package is on offer with great benefits. For any confidential enquiries please contact Sarah Bolitho on 0499 027 469 or sarah@levyl.com.au

Levyl encourage diverse, equitable and inclusive recruitment solutions and commit to respond to every applicant. We make selection and shortlist decisions based on your skills, experience, personal attributes, and motivators. When you apply on one of our ads, please tell us the pronouns that you use and any reasonable adjustments you may need throughout the interview process.
