Job description

Payroll Team Lead | $120-$130k + Super

A unique opportunity to shape the current & future state of the payroll function in this people-driven Australian business with an international footprint.

  • Lead a team and ensure operational excellence in BAU payroll
  • Develop and implement best practice procedures & workflows
  • Sit as part of P&C and have touchpoints across employee lifecycle

The Company

Our client is a respected and trusted name within both the Australian and international markets in which they operate. With an impressive and humble backstory, they have achieved significant commercial success, while staying true to their values which are centered around the growth & development of their people.

The Leaders

Through this role, you’ll become a trusted figure within the Payroll/P&C teams. You’ll report directly into the Payroll & People Systems Manager, an experienced and tech-savvy leader who has driven the implementation of the new system since joining the business. You will also have a dotted reporting line to the CPO, a commercial and knowledgeable P&C professional who is firmly across and invested in the success of the payroll function. Supporting you will be a team of coordinators who collectively oversee a weekly and monthly pay run.

The Opportunity

This is a role which will provide you with the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of the payroll function. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership and guidance of the payroll team to ensure smooth delivery of weekly and monthly pay cycles;
  • Coaching and mentoring your direct reports on an individual level to uplift capability;
  • Working with the Payroll & Systems Manager to optimise usage of the Payroll & HR system, Ceridian Dayforce
  • Compiling SOPs and documenting workflows to future-proof the function;
  • Identifying and implementing best practice processes and ways of working;
  • Collaborating closely with the P&C team to ensure compliance and accuracy in the integration between payroll & the employee lifecycle.

About You

Our client are looking for an ambitious Senior Payroll Specialist or Payroll Supervisor who is looking for a step-change opportunity into a leadership position with increased responsibilities.

You will ideally have exposure to Ceridian Dayforce, however if not, will be able to demonstrate a high degree of adaptability and an ability to learn new systems at pace. Your technical skillset will encompass end-to-end processing as well as other duties such as payroll tax, superannuation & reporting, and an understanding of NZ payroll will be highly beneficial.

You will be a confident and nurturing people leader with an understanding of how to get the best out of individuals and teams, while you’ll also be a self-starter who can work with autonomy in order to drive continuous improvement.

Finally, you’ll be collaborative and thrive when working in tandem with your key stakeholders to achieve commercial results.

The Process

Following an initial meeting with a Levyl Consultant, you will meet with the Payroll & Systems Manager and potentially other stakeholders from P&C. Prior to commencement, background and police checks will need to be completed, as will a psychometric assessment.
