This national infrastructure services organisation supports major utilities, government bodies and commercial clients across Australia through essential field-based services. With operations spanning multiple states and a workforce of over 500 employees, the organisation operates across a broad network of regional and metropolitan locations supporting critical infrastructure and service delivery environments.

The workforce is predominantly operational and field-based, consisting of crews, supervisors and operational leaders working across dispersed sites. The organisation has built a strong reputation for safety, reliability and long-term partnerships with key clients. As a privately owned Australian business, they combine national scale with the agility of a family-style culture where people are trusted to take ownership and make decisions that support the business.

The Leaders

This role reports to the Group People Manager and sits within a small, collaborative national People team supporting operations across multiple states.
The People function works closely with operational leaders and maintains strong visibility across sites.

The leadership style is practical and relationship-driven, with a focus on delivering straightforward HR support that enables leaders to manage their teams effectively in a fast-moving operational environment.

The Opportunity

This role partners with Victorian operational leaders to deliver practical HR support across a dispersed workforce, ensuring people practices align with operational priorities while maintaining compliance and strong employee relations.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing practical HR advice across employee relations, performance management, conduct matters and workplace investigations
  • Interpreting and applying enterprise agreements, modern awards and employment legislation
  • Partnering with operational leaders on workforce planning, recruitment support and employee lifecycle processes
  • Coaching supervisors and managers on effective people leadership and performance conversations
  • Supporting industrial relations matters including consultation processes and union engagement where required
  • Contributing to HR initiatives that strengthen leadership capability, engagement and operational performance
  • Supporting organisational change, projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the People function
  • Building trusted relationships across operational sites, crews and leadership teams
This is a highly visible role that involves regular travel to operational sites across Victoria.

About You

You are an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering closely with leaders and working within operational environments. With strong generalist capability, you are confident providing clear, practical advice across a wide range of people matters and are comfortable navigating employee relations and industrial frameworks.

You bring experience supporting multi-site or field-based workforces and understand the importance of visibility, credibility and building strong relationships with leaders on the ground.

Most importantly, you are approachable, resilient and comfortable operating in hands-on environments where pace, ambiguity and real-time decision making are part of daily operations.
