Contract Type:

Part Time

Location:

Sydney

Salary:

The Company

Our client is a true success story, starting as a small business and growing to supply some of the tastiest products across Australia and New Zealand while establishing a leading market share.

Continued innovation has seen the business expand from a single product to manufacturing a broad range of food products that have become staples in households across Australia. Core to the organisation are its values of looking after its customers and looking after its people. These values are embedded across every level of the business and shape how employees work together, engage with customers and deliver quality products.

The Leaders

The Managing Director is an accomplished leader within the FMCG industry who brings a unique perspective, having held both operational and C-Suite positions throughout their career. Down-to-earth and authentic, they are passionate about ensuring employees are treated well and understand the positive impact this has on how products are manufactured, customers are supported and the broader business performs.

The People & Culture Manager will work closely with the Human Resources Director and partner with functional leaders across Australia and New Zealand.

The Opportunity

This is an initial six-month opportunity leading the P&C function across Australia and New Zealand, with an immediate start preferred. For the first two months, the role will operate as a job share with the current Human Resources Director, working three days per week. This initial period will provide a structured handover and the opportunity to build relationships, understand the business and become familiar with its people priorities, operations and ways of working.

You will then step into the role independently, taking sole responsibility for leading the People & Culture function during the Human Resources Director’s absence. When the Human Resources Director returns in January, the role will transition back into a job-share arrangement, providing continuity and support across the function.

Working with functional leaders across the organisation, you will align people processes and practices throughout Australia and New Zealand. You will also provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to a People & Culture team comprising HR Business Partners, WHS and Payroll.

This is a hands-on role that blends strategic leadership with operational delivery across all aspects of the employee lifecycle. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Driving engagement and collaboration across the organisation, fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing across a white- and blue-collar workforce
  • Attracting, retaining and rewarding high-performing talent to ensure the business has the capability required to achieve its strategic goals
  • Driving the people agenda in line with organisational priorities, partnering with leaders to understand their goals and challenges and develop practical plans
  • Building and maintaining constructive relationships with union and employee representatives, working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes
  • Leading cyclical people processes, including performance reviews, talent and succession planning, and learning and development
  • Coaching leaders through complex employee and industrial relations matters
  • Partnering with operational leaders to effectively manage safety, mitigate risk and implement appropriate plans, including return-to-work processes
  • Providing leadership, mentoring and support to the broader People & Culture team
  • Identifying opportunities to improve People & Culture systems, processes and practices across the organisation
About You

This opportunity will suit an experienced human resources leader who has led a People & Culture function within an industrial environment where people and customers are central to the organisation’s success.

The ideal profile is pragmatic, practical and down-to-earth, with a strong track record of delivering contemporary HR solutions across the full employee lifecycle. Experience supporting both factory-based and corporate employees across blue- and white-collar environments will be important, along with the ability to confidently navigate employee and industrial relations matters.

This is a close-knit and friendly workplace, so the ability to immerse yourself in the business and build genuine relationships across the organisation will be key. You will be equally comfortable partnering with senior leaders and spending time with employees on the factory floor.

You will also bring:
  • Demonstrated experience leading a broad People & Culture function
  • Strong employee and industrial relations capability
  • Experience working within manufacturing, FMCG or another industrial environment
  • Confidence interpreting employment legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
  • Experience partnering with union and employee representatives
  • Strong leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills
  • A practical, hands-on and action-oriented approach
  • The ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational delivery
  • Sound judgement when managing sensitive and complex people matters
  • The ability to quickly build credibility and work effectively within an established leadership team
The Process

Following an initial meeting with a Levyl consultant, shortlisted candidates will meet with the Human Resources Director. Given the urgency of the requirement, interviews will commence immediately, with the successful candidate expected to start as soon as possible.

Please apply today or contact Antony Jones on 0448 198 544 or antony@levyl.com.au with any confidential queries.
