Contract Type:

Full Time

Location:

Sydney

Salary:

The Company

AusEnergy Services Limited (ASL) sits at the centre of Australia’s energy transition.

Operating as an independent organisation with its own Board, ASL works across policy, market design and delivery to support governments in accelerating large-scale energy infrastructure investment. Its work spans national and state programs that are critical to ensuring Australia’s energy system remains stable, sustainable and delivers value for consumers and communities.

Four years into its journey, ASL has moved from startup to scale-up. The organisation is lean, highly capable and delivery-focused, with a workforce largely drawn from private sector energy, infrastructure and investment backgrounds. ASL is now entering a significant next phase, with major policy, design and transformation work underway to support the establishment of a new national energy entity targeted to go live in late 2027.

This is an organisation with purpose, complexity and momentum.

The Leader

This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Nevenka Codevelle, a highly respected energy sector leader with more than 25 years’ experience across government, regulation, infrastructure and market bodies.

The Executive Leadership Team is experienced, pragmatic and delivery-led, with many leaders having grown with the organisation through its formative years. ASL’s leadership culture values accountability, clarity and collaboration, and expects its leaders to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

You will be a member of the Executive Team and have regular interaction with the board and various committees. This role will require strong stakeholder management during a period of significant organisational evolution.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal executive leadership role at a defining point in ASL’s evolution.

As General Manager – People & Culture, you will lead ASL’s people, culture and capability agenda, strengthening foundations whilst simultaneously working strategically to enable the organisation to scale and prepare for its next phase of transformation. A role with genuine influence, operating at the intersection of strategy, governance and execution.

Key areas of focus include:
  • Leading the people dimension of enterprise transformation, including preparation for a potential future entity formation and operating model change, ensuring ASL is organisationally ready for what comes next;
  • Driving organisational design and workforce planning, resetting structure, roles, spans and capability to support both current delivery and future growth;
  • Shaping and embedding ASL’s culture, values and leadership behaviours, in close partnership with the CEO and Executive Team, with clear measures of progress and impact;
  • Building leadership capability and succession, including for critical and executive roles, to protect ASL’s depth and continuity as the organisation scales;
  • Owning the full People & Culture remit, ensuring contemporary, compliant and effective frameworks across performance, reward, policies, systems, wellbeing and psychosocial safety;
  • Providing trusted executive and Board-level advice, including regular reporting on people, culture, workforce risks and opportunities; and
  • Leading a lean, high-performing People & Culture team, combining strategic leadership with hands-on delivery and strong business partnering.
About You

To be considered for this role you will be a senior People & Culture leader with the judgement, credibility and execution focus to operate in complex, regulated environments.

You will bring:
  • Proven experience leading a People & Culture function across culture, engagement, leadership development and talent capability
  • Strong organisational design and transformation expertise
  • Exposure to operationally complex and highly governed environments, with a sound understanding of risk, compliance and accountability
  • Experience in small to mid-sized organisations, particularly in scale-up or maturity phases
  • A leadership style that balances strategic thinking and execution with hands-on delivery
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate confidently at executive and Board level
This is not a theoretical or purely strategic role. ASL is seeking a decisive, pragmatic leader who thrives in pace, ambiguity and complexity; someone who wants to build, uplift and deliver.

The Process

This search process will include multiple interview stages following an initial assessment process with Levyl. You will have ample opportunity to understand the organisation’s purpose, complexity and future direction.

For confidential enquiries, please contact Sarah Bolitho on 0499 027 469 or sarah@levyl.com.au. We look forward to hearing from you.

Levyl encourage diverse, equitable and inclusive recruitment solutions and commit to respond to every applicant. We make selection and shortlist decisions based on your skills, experience, personal attributes, and motivators. Should you be successful for interview, we will tender you an interview accommodation checklist, so that you can let us know how we can support you to perform at your best.
