The Company
This organisation is a well-known hospitality, events and leisure group operating a large, complex portfolio of venues across metropolitan and regional Australia. Over the past four years, the People & Culture function has scaled rapidly, as has the enterprise headcount. They have grown from a small team to a well-established structure supporting a workforce of several thousand employees. The business operates in a near 24-hour environment, with strong operational leadership, high accountability and an unwavering focus on guest experience & service.
Now entering its next phase of growth and with expansion plans on the horizon, the ER Lead role has been newly created to uplift ER capability, manage complex risk and ensure compliance with evolving legislative requirements.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Group Head of People, this newly created role offers the opportunity to establish and embed a consistent, risk-based approach to employee relations within a high-volume, complex environment.
Key areas of focus will include:
About You
You are a seasoned ER practitioner with experience in high-volume, operational environments such as hospitality, retail, FMCG, manufacturing or logistics. You have deep capability in managing complex cases, leading investigations, and designing ER frameworks and policies.
You are confident working with senior leaders, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies, and can bring both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to build something meaningful while remaining connected to the frontline.

- Designing and implementing a group-wide ER engagement model and case management framework
- Providing expert advice and hands-on management of complex and high-risk ER matters
- Represent the business in Fair Work Commission proceedings and external forums
- Coach and support People Leaders and the business partnering team on performance, conduct, and risk
- Review and modernise ER policies, procedures, and code of conduct documentation
- Use ER data and case insights to identify trends, report risks, and enable early interventions
- Partner with Legal, Risk, and Compliance to drive a consistent approach to people risk
- Engage with external legal providers, regulators, and union representatives as required
