The Leaders

Reporting into the Head of Employee Experience and working closely with a peer Manager who oversees Remuneration and Reward, you will enjoy wearing your specialist Payroll hat whilst being a part of an inclusive and united HR leadership team. The Opportunity

This role will lead a team of four payroll officers to effectively deliver BAU activities collaborating across Employee Experience and People & Culture whilst being the main point of contact for many inhouse (Finance, IT, Risk, Compliance) and external stakeholders (Audit, Consulting).  Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the processing of two pay-runs including a monthly corporate head office run and fortnightly run for all branch and call centre employees;
  • Upskilling the capability of the payroll team to ensure all payrolls are compliant, timely and the team are developing and engaged;
  • Partnering with the P&C team and Finance on operations, systems, reporting and risk mitigation projects;
  • Ensuring all tax and superannuation compliance requirements are met for the group;
  • Supporting the development of the payroll strategy for the embedding of a new HRIS to align the needs of payroll delivery and support the business agenda (WorkDay will be adopted mid to late 2024); and
  • Supporting the business on the continued change and transformation journey they are on, contributing with your subject matter expertise in payroll leadership.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager (or seasoned Team Leader) that is professional, personable, and collaborative in nature. You will enjoy leading teams, mentoring junior members, and developing a cohesive culture that is embracing of change.

Industry wise, you will ideally come from a comparable sector whether that be insurance, professional services or even retail. The customer is at the heart of every decision this organisation makes, and therefore this exposure will help you identify with their approach. This psyche also drives their approach with employee engagement and experience; you will see the benefit of working in amongst the People & Culture function and appreciate the cross functional exposure this allows to enable better results from Payroll!

Of course, we are also seeking strong foundation awards and EBA payroll management experience with the ability to interpret relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and industrial instruments as they apply. You will be across statutory obligations, super, tax, redundancies, terminations, and time and attendance. Any exposure to some of the larger payroll systems i,e. Preceda, ADP, SAP would be advantageous as this organisation will be moving from a manual process to a more seamless set up with ethe implementation of WorkDay planned for later this year.
